Vision Electrical designs and installs Gold Coast home automation using Clipsal Wiser, SAL PIXIE and Shelly, and installs and commissions owner-managed Home Assistant setups. Simple systems that do a few useful things reliably, rather than a house full of gadgets that need constant attention.

We work on existing homes, renovations and new builds across the Gold Coast.

QLD Electrical Contractor Licence 81470. Clipsal Wiser Approved Installer and PIXIE Certified Installer.

Start with what you actually want it to do

The systems that get used are the ones built around a handful of everyday outcomes.

  • One button that turns everything off on the way out or at bedtime
  • Exterior and security lighting on a schedule, or on sunset and sunrise
  • Hallway, stair and bathroom lights on sensors
  • Blinds opening and closing on a schedule
  • Selected power points controlled or scheduled
  • Energy visibility, so you can see what is actually drawing power
  • Routines that group all of the above

Not everything in a home can be brought into one system. Some appliances and some security devices do not expose a usable interface, so we check what you already own before we promise anything.

Choose the level

One room or a lighting package. A starting point: a few switches, a scene or two, one app.

Multi-room retrofit. Staged through the existing home, usually starting with lighting and exterior circuits.

New build or renovation design. Planned with the electrical design before walls close, which is where the cabling and switch positions get decided.

The platforms we install

Clipsal Wiser. Our main platform for whole-home lighting and control. Suited to homes that want one consistent system across many rooms, with app and wall control together. We are a Clipsal Wiser Approved Installer.

SAL PIXIE. Suited to staged and room-by-room work, and to retrofits where you want to start small and add later without committing the whole house up front. We are a PIXIE Certified Installer.

Shelly. A cost-effective retrofit option that we install. Compact Shelly relay modules can be fitted behind compatible existing switches or at the switchboard, subject to the selected model, available space and wiring.

For enthusiasts who want full local control, we also install and commission Home Assistant setups. Ongoing administration of a Home Assistant system stays with the owner.

Retrofit or new build

Most existing homes can be retrofitted without rewiring the house, but it depends on what is behind the switch. Some devices need a neutral at the switch, and some need physical space in the wall box or at the board. We check both before quoting.

A new build or renovation is easier and cheaper to do well, because switch positions, cabling and network points can be planned before the walls are closed. If you are building, bring us in during the electrical design rather than after.

Network and cabling

A smart home is only as steady as the network underneath it. Where the system needs it, we assess the Wi-Fi and install data cabling so the devices have something reliable to sit on.

How we run the job

  1. Discovery. What you want it to do, what you already own, and what the house allows.
  2. Device and network assessment. Including Wi-Fi coverage and cabling.
  3. Written scope and quote. Before anything is ordered or installed.
  4. Licensed installation. All electrical work by our own licensed electricians.
  5. Commissioning and testing.
  6. Your accounts and admin access set up in your name.
  7. A walk through the scenes, then handover documentation.

When the internet drops

This is the question worth asking before you choose a platform, because the answer differs.

Wall controls remain available. Local scenes, schedules and automations that do not rely on an online service can continue. Remote access, cloud-only integrations, weather triggers, notifications and cloud voice services need internet. For Home Assistant, offline operation depends on the devices and integrations selected.

We will tell you exactly what keeps working before you commit to a platform.

Accounts, privacy and admin

The accounts are yours. We set the system up in your name, hand over admin access at completion, and we do not keep a standing connection into your home. If you want us to help remotely later, you turn that on for us at the time.

Building or renovating?

We work with builders on early design coordination, electrical and network allowances, documentation and client handover. See our commercial electrical page for project work, or talk to us during the design stage.

Areas we cover

Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh, Robina, Helensvale, Coomera, Pacific Pines, Hope Island, Paradise Point, Runaway Bay, Ormeau, Pimpama and Coolangatta, plus Tweed Heads in NSW.

Frequently asked questions

What can I automate in an ordinary home?

Lighting, exterior and security lighting, sensors in hallways and bathrooms, blinds, selected power points, and routines that group them. Not every appliance or security device can be brought in, so we check what you own first.

How much does a starter setup cost?

It depends on how many switches and circuits are involved and what is behind them. We do a discovery visit, then quote in writing.

Can home automation be retrofitted without rewiring the whole house?

Usually yes. It depends on whether there is a neutral at the switch and whether there is physical space in the wall box. We check before quoting.

Is it easier to plan during a new build or renovation?

Yes, considerably. Switch positions, cabling and network points can all be planned before the walls close.

Which platform is right for me?

Wiser suits a consistent whole-home system. PIXIE suits staged, room-by-room work. Shelly is the cost-effective retrofit option. We will recommend one after the discovery visit rather than before.

Do I need a licensed electrician for smart switches and relays?

Yes. Anything wired into your electrical installation is electrical work and has to be done by a licensed electrician.

Can I keep using normal wall switches?

Yes. Every switch we install still works as an ordinary wall switch.

Does the system need the internet?

Wall controls remain available. Local scenes, schedules and automations that do not rely on an online service can continue. Remote access, cloud-only integrations, weather triggers, notifications and cloud voice services need internet. For Home Assistant, offline operation depends on the devices and integrations selected.

Can I use Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa?

Often yes, depending on the platform and the devices. We will confirm what is supported for your specific setup at the discovery stage rather than promising it up front.

Can I add more rooms or devices later?

Yes. That is one of the reasons we usually start with lighting and expand from there.

Can you install smart devices I have already bought?

We first confirm that the product is electrically compliant, suitable for the installation and supported. If it is, we install and test the electrical side. Programming, compatibility and product warranty remain with you.

Who owns the accounts?

You do. We set them up in your name and hand over admin access at completion.

Can Vision coordinate with my builder or renovation team?

Yes. The earlier we are involved in the electrical design, the better the result.
